The image is simple: a quiet offering, a thin cake made of pure fine flour, on a pan or griddle — no sound of slaughter or blood — just a pinch of flour, oil, and frankincense. On the surface, it appears to be a modest, quiet, almost colorless sacrifice. But it is precisely here that a deep truth is revealed: even a small offering holds great meaning — if it comes from a pure place.

The Torah explicitly emphasizes: “With all your offerings, you shall offer salt.” Why salt, of all things? The sages explain this is a “covenant of salt” — an eternal covenant. Salt does not spoil; it preserves other things, and it symbolizes enduring commitment. The Torah teaches us here: even if you bring only a little — don’t forget to include “salt” — intention, commitment, and eternity.

And in our personal lives? How moving it is to realize that the Torah not only allows — but encourages — the simple person, one who cannot give much, to offer their portion. And it asks only this: do not forget the “salt” — your heart, your intention, your personal covenant with the Creator. Every pinch of devotion — counts.

Wishing you a beautiful day, filled with intention, truth, and the salt of eternity within your smallest deeds.
